When is it?

What is the purpose?
The goal is to increase recycling awareness in a fun and friendly competition.

How is MSU competing?
MSU is competing in two divisions:

The Grand Champion division combines trash and recyclable materials to determine recycling rate as a percentage of its overall waste.

The Gorilla Prize recognizes the larger schools that recycle the highest gross tonnage of combined recyclables, regardless of campus population.

New - Electronics
New for the 2012 Tournament, this pilot Electronics competition ranks schools based on the amount of computers, hand held devices and other consumer electronics. This pilot project only runs through March 5th.

What can be recycled at MSU?

• White paper
• Mixed paper
• Cardboard
• Boxboard
• Newspaper
• All plastics
• Household metal
• Glass (Residence Halls ONLY)
• Books, Magazines and Catalogs
• Electronics (competition only till March 5th)

Schedule our one day Office Clean Out
The one day office clean out will be focusing on paper, newspaper, cardboard, boxboard, plastic, and e-Waste. You will be provided with a minimum of three hampers; one for FREE confidential shredding, one for e-Waste, and one for EVERYTHING ELSE. Yes, we will sort it out for you. It’s that easy! This is a great opportunity to do a little spring cleaning, while at the same time, helping MSU do what’s best for everyone.

To sign up your department/unit, please check our calendar of available dates. Monday through Friday between February 5th and March 30th. Then fill out our simple sign up form (below), after which, you will be contacted with more information about setting up the clean out. Also, please keep in mind; these are limited to one day events only. If you feel that you need more time for a larger project, please contact us to discuss what we have to offer.
